Pakistan vs Afghanistan T20I Tri-Series Opener: Agha’s 53* Anchors Pakistan to 182/7 in Sharjah Thriller

The UAE T20I Tri-Series 2025 began today in Sharjah with a thrilling clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 182/7 in 20 overs. Captain Salman Ali Agha played a match-saving knock of 53 off 36 balls*, supported by a quick cameo from Faheem Ashraf (14 off 5 balls).

The tri-series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and UAE, serves as preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Ahead of the match, a press conference clip went viral when a journalist called Afghanistan “Asia’s No. 2 team,” drawing a smirk from Pakistan skipper Agha. Meanwhile, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan stressed that his team will focus on effort and execution rather than targets.

The result of this opener will set the tone for the rest of the series and the teams’ Asia Cup build-up.
